What should worry German fans is that Spain's U19 women thrashed their German counterparts by 5-0 yesterday. This means that technical development of the next generation is still a long way off. Physically and athletically the German women are absolutely top tier. Its the cerebral aspect of the game that needs improvement.
In both legs of UWNL, Germany couldn't have asked for more favourable circumstances. In the 1st leg at home, they got Spain at their most vulnerable – a chilly night in the rain that hampered the Spaniards' passing style on the carpet. Plus their crucial defensive midfielder Patri was injured. In the 2nd leg, it was expected that Spain will be at their best on a dry evening at home. However, rub of the green went Germany's way as Aitana broke her tibia in training. This was like taking on the men's Spanish side without Iniesta (Aitana) & Busquets (Patri)!!! And on top of that Spain returned the favour, meted out to them in Kaiserslautern, by wasting numerous gilt edged chances in the 1st half.
The English commentator for German football YT channel must be an Englishman hired by the Germans. His dismissive attitude towards the Spaniards was bordering on hate at times. A typical product of WSL, who believes that anything good can only come from England.
He mentioned Barca's loss to Arsenal a few times but conveniently ignored how Barca had thrashed the big 2 German clubs in Spain in 2 consecutive UWCLs. Or how they dominated Chelsea home & away.
Every foul committed by Spain was okay in his books. But when the ref penalized the Germans it was soft & the Spaniards were playacting. His disdain for Spain really made it an awful experience for neutrals like me. As if the Spanish women can't play football.

I know it's the German football channel but when you provide the live broadcast of the final it's your responsibility not to cut the live feed at the end of the match. You have to continue the live feed until the winner of the final lift the trophy (in this case it's spain). I am so disappointed when this channel cut the live feed at the end of 90 minutes yesterday.

A dangerous routine seems to have started in the women's game too..when was the last time German men defeated Spain in a competitive game.. at least women were a different breed,they had Spain's number,but the two consecutive defeats took the sheen off the past..
